Officials Courses

Our sport has a constant need for officials, so if you are interested, or can think of anybody who might be interested, please read on…

Introduction to Photo Finish Course
Saturday 16 September 10am to 2-30pm
Venue:  Newtown Park Function Room

Peter Bailie, our very experienced photo finish operator, will conduct this course aimed at introducing you to the photo finish process.  There will then be the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice at mini meets at Newtown Park when the new track and field season begins.  Anyone who has an interest in this area is encouraged to attend.
Please contact Jo Murray on jo@athleticswellington.org.nz or 021 976116 before Monday 11 September to register your interest.

HAVE A GO AS AN OFFICIAL

Saturday 7 October at 1.15pm
Have you watched the recent World Champs or an Olympic or Commonwealth Games and wondered what the teams of officials do at an athletics meeting?  Are you a past athlete wanting to give back to the sport you love?  Louise Evans-McDonald, National Technical Official and President of Athletics Wellington, will meet and greet you this afternoon and take you through the action of the afternoon programme.  Look for Louise in the function room at Newtown Park at 1.15pm (events start at 1.30pm).
If we don’t have officials we can’t run our sport. We’re keen to add to our experienced team of officials so if you want to volunteer in the sport and help out our athletes, coaches and officials this is the perfect opportunity to get involved.
