Athletics Wellington MELROSE SHIELD RELAYS Meeting
The Melrose Shield was presented to the Lower Hutt Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club in 1948 by the late A (Bill) Melrose for interclub competition for relay races and teams events. The annual competition was held during twilight hours at the Lower Hutt Recreation ground. Kiwi was the first club to win the shield in 1948. Current holders are Upper Hutt Club. Bill Melrose’s daughter-in-law, Dawn Melrose is a long serving Wellington athletic official, and her sons have been prominent local athletes.
An Interclub relay points meeting to determine Melrose Shield winners for 2024.
Points allocated for Men and Women 20 and Over and Under 20 grades plus Open Mixed teams.
Any club may register a team.
The competition will have points for teams in two age grades

RELAY EVENTS: TRACK 4x100m, 4x400m, 4x800m, DMR Relay (1200/400/800/1600m),
FIELD RELAY: 2024 will feature a FIELD TEAM Relay of 4 events – 2 jumps/2 throws – can be made up of between 1 and 4 people
Open Events:300m/400m Hurdles and 5000m Track Walk
