OVERVIEW

Athletics Wellington Senior track and field meets are predominantly at Newtown Park Athletics Stadium or  the  Colin Pugh Sportsbowl, Masterton.  On occasions Junior [Under 14] athletes will compete alongside Seniors.  There is a wide range of events in other locations that may be of interest in the Lower North Island region and nationally significant events  throughout  New Zealand for senior athletes. Senior athletes are almost always welcome to compete in other centre meetings throughout the country if you are a registered club athlete for Athletics Wellington club. 

EVENTS

Predominantly Athletics Wellington sanctioned meetings are held on a Saturday afternoon and on occasion mid week twilights are staged as per the calendar.
Each meeting will have a specific timetable of events published in advance on this website  closer to the time of each event.  Updates and notifications will also be posted on AW Facebook.

ENTRY

This year the majority of  Senior Track & Field events at Newtown Park Athletics Stadium will be will be “Entry on the Day” [EOTD].  We ask athletes to make one Pre-registration for the season at NO COST and this will  enable you to report to the stadium and enter on the day provided you arrive prior to the normal assembly time for an event. Once you pre enter using the link provided you will have a Newtown Park 2021-2022 season number allocated for designated regular competition days. Each athlete will receive a bib number and a bib with your name & number. This registration is not your Athletics New Zealand / Wellington club registration, that is still required for your club

PRE REGISTRATION  HERE 

Events with specific ONLINE ENTRY  will be events such as; The Agency Group 10,000m, Scottish Night of Miles, Team Ledger Harcourts Capital Classic and the Athletics Wellington Championships. These which will have an online pre-entry system will be in place with link provided.

ELIGIBILITY  and ENTRY FEES

The basic points of “eligibility” for our senior Track & Field meets are:

  • Entry to the meet is open to all athletes of college-age and above
  • Entry is free for those athletes who are financial members of clubs that contribute to the Athletics Wellington bulk funding scheme for summer track, or members of Wellington Masters Athletics
  • College Athletes who are not currently a member of an affiliated club are welcome to participate but see the next point.
    • Entry is free to athletes from colleges who contribute to the Athletics Wellington bulk funding scheme for summer track: St Patrick’s Town, St Patrick’s Silverstream, Wellington College and Rongotai College.
    • Athletes from clubs or colleges not contributing to the Athletics Wellington bulk funding scheme for summer track will be asked to pay $10.00 per meet by direct credit to the AW bank account
      • (for athletes in this category, we will have slips to hand out on the day giving the AW bank account details)

CENTRAL ATHLETICS LEAGUE 
The Central Athletics League is a Regional Teams Competition for clubs  held annually across three meetings prior to Christmas. All information on the Central Athletics League [CAL] is HERE
