Competitor Numbers and Registration
This year, we have changed the system of Competitor numbers and replaced the previous Colgate Age-Flashes.
We have new patches – the same size and material, but pre-printed with a 3-digit Competitor number.
These numbers are pre-assigned to athletes who are entered, and will be issued at a registration desk in the Function Room at Newtown Park. All athletes must report to the registration desk on arrival, to collect their Competitor number.
The registration desk will be open from around 8:00am. Please ask parents to come early for the first meet – by no later than 9:00am – because we expect a good turnout, and will have lots of Competitor numbers to issue.
Kane Mokomoko and Amanda Goldsmith will oversee the registration desk, but a few other helpers would be handy.
It is helpful for your club to have a knowledgeable person stationed in the Function Room for the first Interclub. This provides a point of contact for those new to Junior Interclub meets. It’s great for them to have a club representative who can answer any questions they might have. Bring a sign with you club name to hang from your club desk.
If athletes are not entered, they can still take part, but they won’t get results showing their name. Their results will be flagged “Unknown Athlete”. This is disappointing for all concerned. Note: We cannot take athlete entries on the day – this is far too disruptive for the volunteers who manage the results system.
LIVE RESULTS
Live results system sends “live” results to a mobile phone application for our track and field meets at Newtown Park. In previous seasons, this app has proven popular with parents of junior athletes. (It also helps us if parents can promptly identify any issues with interim results shown on the app and let us know in the results room, so that we can try to fix any problems on the day).
The app allows you to display all the results for a selected athlete, or to view the full results for any event.
The “live” results usually become available on the app shortly after photo-finish analysis of a race is complete or data entry for a field event is complete.
