UPDATED ATHLETE INFORMATION HERE

Wellington Scottish Athletics Club is inviting Wellington runners to attend Te Ahumairangi 10000m Festival on 15 November. This event celebrates Wellington distance running and is a fantastic opportunity for runners and friends to come together and run 10km in a supportive, high-energy atmosphere.

Te Ahumairangi 10000 Festival is a fun opportunity for runners to work together in packs and support each other in running personal bests. It is also an opportunity for road or trail runners who have not run on the track before to try it out in a supportive environment. It is probably best suited to runners who can complete 10km in an hour or less.

Prizes

  • Top 5 Men and Women = $100 (1st) , $50 (2nd), $50 (3rd), $50 (4th), $50 (5th)
  • Age grade records = $100 for Wellington records and $400 for national age group records.
  • Spot prizes = 10 x $50
  • Fastest last lap = $100
  • Top club = $200 (5 + athletes to count, the club whose athletes are cumulatively closest to their seed time)
  • Commentators award = 3 x $100.
  • Relay = 25 x $10 Lifestyle Sports vouchers as prizes for the winning relay team.

Draft Timetable

We hope to hold two seeded races and a relay. The draft timetable for race start times:

Pacers

We will have pacers to help runners reach your target times. They will be wearing a PACER bib on their backs. Provisionally, we expect to have pacers for the following times:
50 mins,
45 mins,
40 mins,
37.5 mins
35 mins.
Meet organisers will also consider requesters for other target times.

Team relay

At 7 pm, we’ll hold the 10,000m relay. This is a relaxed event with no official timing. Last-minute entries are welcome; just let us know how many people you expect on your team (teams can be from 2 to 25 people, and it’s up to you to determine how you split the 25 laps).

More details and the entry form will be available soon.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors Te Ahumairangi Investments and Lifestyle Sport, we’ll be offering prizes across multiple categories, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

We’re looking forward to seeing Wellington’s running community come together for a memorable evening on the track.
