Athletics Wellington’s NIGHT CROSS COUNTRY
Wednesday Evening, 22 April 2026 – Macalister Park, Adelaide Road,
Athletics Wellington will host the region’s first ever Night Cross Country event, and invites everyone (club members, public, young and old) to come along and try something different.

It’s a simple concept:
Start times and distances:
7.15pm: 1 lap = 1.5km 7.30pm: 2 laps = 3km
Course: Refer attached map HERE
The course will be marked with tape. Underfoot conditions will depend on weather (rain) in the lead up.
Lighting:
Some artificial lights will be positioned around the course, but don’t expect full course ground coverage. The main Macalister Park playing field is a relatively smooth grass surface which you should be able to run confidently over in the dark; the loop at the southern end of the course and the up and downhills are rougher. You are welcome to wear a head lamp – We advise if you want to always see where you are putting your feet. Take the opportunity to visit Bivouac Outdoor to purchase your personal headlamp

On arrival at the course, collect your race bib from the start area (bib are to be returned after the race thanks).
Results:
Results will be uploaded to the Athletics Wellington website.
Change Rooms and Toilets:
The Council building by the Start / Finish will be open for your use.
Parking:
Some street parking will be available on Adelaide Road, otherwise plan on parking in surrounding streets, which may require a reasonable walk to get to the course.
Post Event:
Come and socialise at Sprig + Fern Berhampore, 461 Adelaide Road.
$500.00 of SPOT PRIZES will be provided by Bivouac Outdoor, SAS Sports and Sprig+Fern
Cancellation:
Really bad weather may result in cancellation of the event.
Cancellation will be notified by 4.00 pm via the Athletics Wellington
