Stacey Wilson has been appointed as Athletics Wellington Officials Coordinator and will be the main communications person and contact for all officials, including identifying and assisting the keen up-and–coming officials within the region. Stacey will report into the AW Board with updates when required and will work with the all the other athletic sub committees in terms of any needs required in terms of training courses. Stacey has been involved in Athletics for a number of years in children’s athletics and has recently moved to Wellington from the Taranaki region where she held a number of positions within that region’s athletics associations.

Vaughan Oates will be the Senior Technical Official and Education officer for the region. Vaughan’s role includes sessions to discuss and explain rule changes and their interpretations, marking examination papers and awarding grading’s, and of course still officiating at events. Vaughan currently sits on the current Officials Technical Group that Athletics NZ coordinate. Vaughan has been an official in the Wellington region for a number of years and can be seen most weekends in these duties at Newtown Park

Both of these roles have a fundamental difference in focus and skills required, hence the split in roles.

This is an important function and pillar to uphold within our sport so we thank you both for volunteering to do these roles.
