Peter Stevens claims World Masters title in Gothenburg
A small group of Wellington Masters athletes made their way to Gothenburg, Sweden for the World Masters Athletics Championships. Gothenburg, known to many New Zealanders has the city where John Walker broke the World Mile record just over 49 years ago hosts the World Masters Athletics Championships from 12 August through 25 August
In the 60+ age grade Peter Stevens [Scottish] has claimed the gold over the 2000m steeplechase in a time of 7.01.43 and placed 5th in the 5000m.
Wellingtons other podium spot has been claimed by well performed Masters Race walker Jacqui Wilson [Trentham United] taking bronze in the women’s 70+ 10,000m race walk in a time of 1h.11.52
