Wellington Junior Athletes Enjoy Success at 12 & 13 Interprovincial Teams Event

Over Easter weekend Athletics Wellington 12- and 13-year-old athletes travelled to Palmerston North to compete in the annual age group Interprovincial Championships. The team event for all eleven Athletics NZ Centres and Counties Manukau was staged on Saturday & Sunday.

Wellington athletes enjoyed numerous individual successes with the majority of the team gaining at least one or more personal bests and an excellent Wellington team result of third place overall behind Canterbury and Auckland and ahead of Waikato Bay of Plenty, and Counties Manukau

Jersey- Rose Perrot Lealamanu have received a trophy for the 12 girls with the 3rd highest overall points score in her grade and an excellent contribution to the Wellington total.

All Wellington age group teams placed third in each of the 12 & 13- year boys and girls competitions, and placed 2nd overall in our 4 x 100m relays and 3rd in the medley relays.

The Wellington team was recognised as the team that illustrated the most respect and friendliness towards the officials at each of the competition sites.

The conclusion of the domestic  final track & field competition for the season will be the North Island Secondary Schools at Porritt Stadium, Hamilton this weekend.
