Wellington names large team for home Nationals
Team AW teams 2023 T&F Nationals
Anna Thomson will be going for a three peat of consecutive National titles on her home track as she is one of the leading Senior women named in the Wellington team. Alongside Thomson strong Wellington prospects in Senior ranks will be Alison Andrews-Paul who returns to her former home region out of Canada to represents Wellington in the event she ranked No.1 in NZL last year. Sarah Drought and Hannah Miller fresh from World Cross Country representative duty will lead the Women’s distance athletes with Miller chasing more national titles.
In the Men’s section strong interest will also see Liam Webb – former Kiwi club athlete and ranked no.1 in NZL last year also return to Newtown Park targeting a National title over 400 metres. 2021 National Men’s 200 metre title holder Cody Wilson will be to the fore in Mens sprints and two former stars Phil Jensen will come into throw in the Men’s hammer and Thomas Waldrom better know as a Super rugby and England rep rugby player returns to the circle where he enjoyed success in Schools athletics as a former St Patricks SIlverstream pupil. The two stars will support the strong Throws team predominantly from the Shaka Sola Throws Academy who should feature in all throws grades and disciplines over the weekend proudy wearing the Wellington colours.
