Colgate Games and Throwers are first to take Centre Stage

The 2025 season is about to launch into full swing, with our Junior Athletes heading to Hastings for this weekends three day  Colgate Games. The longstanding event of 45 years will see around 200 young athletes from Wellington clubs attend with clubs and families.

Meanwhile next week, Senior throwers are afforded ample opportunities for competition and learning as athletes from around NZL attend the Athletics NZ Throws Development Camp from next Thursday in Lower Hutt based at the Sola Power Throwing Academy Fields, situated on the Corner of Randwick Road and Whites Line East.
The camp will be from 11.00am Thursday 16th of January through to 4.00pm Saturday 18th January. During this camp period the Sola Power Throws Meeting  will be in action on Friday the 17th (twilight) for Discus and Saturday the 18th  for Shot Put,  and Hammer and Javelin throws.

This meet is followed by the Kiwi Club Throwers Meeting  on  Anniversary Monday 20th at Newtown Park in Wellington. Again all throws disciplines are in action at the second of these relaxed and friendly throws meets.

 Track and Jumps athletes have opportunities at the Masterton Summer Series meeting on Saturday 18th across at the Colin Pugh Sportsbowl in Masterton.

Following these meets the programme for Senior athletics takes a wider regional focus with the Wellington Twilight Series meet # 5 on Wednesday 22 January, the  same day as Jumps to Music event in Hawera followed by the three World Athletics Continental Tour  Bronze meetings of the traditional Central Classic meets. 

These meetings start with the PAK n’SAVE Cooks Classic on Saturday 25 January at Cooks Garden Wanganui, followed by the Team Ledger Harcourts Capital Classic in Wellington at Newtown Park on Wednesday 29 January and the final event Andrew Spence Pharmacies Potts Classic on 1 February at Mitre 10 Sportspark Hastings.
