Are you interested in being considered for the Wellington team

The Grade 12/13 Inter-provincials will be held in Christchurch over Easter 2019, at the Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub.
Athletes will be selected for the Wellington representative team as follows:
11 x athletes selected from each of these grades: Grade 12 Girls, Grade 12 Boys, Grade 13 Girls, Grade 13 Boys
The athletes and their management team will travel to Christchurch by overnight ferry and charter coach on the evening of Thursday 18 April and return to Wellington on Monday 22 April. The competition will be held over two full days on the Saturday and Sunday.
We expect that the total cost per athlete will be $550, which includes all transport, 3 nights accommodation, meals, a T shirt, a team photo and an event programme. Athletics Wellington is providing a significant subsidy to help keep the costs down.
You must wear an Athletics Wellington singlet in the competitions. You can either purchase one ($40), or borrow one from someone in your club. There is also an optional named hoody that can be purchased for approximately $60.
Athletes selected for the team will compete in four events (must be a mix of track and field events so 3 track and 1 field or vice versa or 2 track and 2 field). It is a team-based event with points awarded for the times you run or the distances you throw or jump. The team with the most points wins, so every person in the team contributes towards the overall result. Relays are included at the end of the event and there is a prize-giving on the Saturday night. It is a fantastic event for these athletes as they’re competing against the top 12 and 13 year olds in the country, in a team environment.
A team will be selected after the first day of the Wellington Junior Championships and announced on the second day of Wellington Junior Championships at lunch time.
To be considered for the Grade 12/13 Interprovincial team you must compete in a minimum of 3 out of the 6 junior interclubs or senior track and field meets. Our preference is for athletes to compete at the junior interclubs unless there are reasons they are unable to compete at the Sunday morning meets. You must also commit to compete in at least one day of the Wellington Junior Champs.

This year, we will require a non-refundable deposit of $50 with your initial registration.
This deposit will help fund the coaching at several squad training sessions that we will schedule over the 2018-19 season, for the benefit of all those who have registered interest. For those who are eventually selected for the team, the deposit will be recognised as a part contribution towards the total cost of participating in the Interprovincials.
If you want to be considered for the team please register your interest here by Monday 31 December 2018. If you don’t sign up before then, the team selectors will assume you are not available. Please tell others who you know are keen so they don’t miss out.
