Deborah Lynch took the Women’s Wellington Mt Running title and lead her club to victory in the Queen Club of the Mountain competition. Lynch was two and half minutes ahead of Andrea Peat [WHAC] and clubmate Amelia Harris who placed third. Olympic were crowned first ahead of rivals Wellington Scottish and home club Wainuiomata in the Queen of the Club competition.
The men’s title was won by a similar margin as Walter Sommerville of Wellington Scottish was well clear of Aaron Whiteford [unattached] and Hugh Taylor [Trentham United]. The King Club of the Mountain went to Olympic again ahead of Wellington Scottish and Trentham.
Dougal Thorburn of Wellington Scottish running in the Masters 35+ grade clocked the fastest men’s time of the day over the cruelling 11.5km course in 51mins 53 sec.
Wellington Scottish won six out the out of sixteen race divisions and Olympic five divisions.
