Monthly Awards for Athletics
For each month during the Track & Field season Athletics Wellington will announce five awards to recognise achievers and supporters. The awards are a joint initiative with Athletics Wellington in association with Mediterranean Foods.
The first recipients of the Awards based on activity during the early season period are,
Official/Volunteer of the Month: Marshall Clark
Marshall has spent a tireless number of hours setting up entry and results systems for Senior and Junior Athletics season and primary school programmes. This has ensure that entry and results have a relatively smooth start to the season
Coach of the Month: John Cope
John’s coaching work with Secondary Schools distance athletes from a number of Colleges and the Olympic club is significant. Recently four of his athletes were nominated and two were successful in CSW Sports Person of the Year Awards.
Youth [U18] Athlete of Month : Niamh Gedye [Paraparaumu Club]
Niamh has made a strong start to her season with her sprint performances being unbeaten in early season track events at Newtown Park and recently recording personal best 200m
Senior [Open] Athlete of the Month: Hugo Jones [WHAC Club]
Hugo has made another promising start to his season jumping 1.85m in his first meet
Masters Athlete of the Month: Sahar Lin [KIWI Club]
Sahar has record two High Jump victories of merit for her master grade in the early season meetings
