Summer Calendar shaping for excellent Track & Field Season

The major meetings for New Zealand and the summer track & field season calendar for Wellington and the lower North Island region is shaping for another excellent Track & Field season in our region. The summer calendar  of key dates has been released by Athletics NZ with Oceania and World Athletics dates approved.

Details for each event will build on each event page as information come sto hand on the Events Calendar. Newtown Park the hub of regional athletics sees the opening days for Track & Field on Saturday 14 October. Athletics NZ will stage the first of major events at Newtown with the National 10,000 metres in association with Scottish Club’s Agency 10,000m Festival event on Saturday 18 November. On Friday 2 February will se the 20th Anniversary of the Team Ledger Harcourts Capital Classic, with the Sola Power Throwing Meet on Saturday 3rd February  at the Academy ground Woburn, Lower Hutt. Throwers will get plenty of opportunities  in late January and February  with the Peter Jack’s Throwers Meet scheduled on Sunday 28 January following the Potts Classic and Pak N’ Sav Cooks Classic in the  week prior. 

The climax of the major action will be the Jennian Homes New Zealand Track & Field Championships  from Thursday 14 March through to Sunday 17 March, for many the last opportunity to see New Zealand’s leading athletes in action to stake a claim for the 2024 Paris Olympics
