Throwers to Feast of top competition in Wellington

Athletics Wellington’s Throwing Community get excellent competition opportunities.

Throwers from elite to novice , young to masters  all get plenty of opportunities over the next week. Leading off the meetings on Saturday at Newtown Park for the annual Peter Jacks Throw’s meeting , followed by the Cooks Classic on Sunday in Wanganui then the Team Ledger Harcourts Capital Classic next Friday evening at Newtown Park before the throwers annual festival event at Sola Power Throwing Academy Venue in Woburn, Lower Hutt.

The Cooks Classic in Wanganui and The Team Ledger Harcourts Capital Classic will not only have the some of NZ ‘s premier throwers like Tom Walsh [shot put] and Lauren Bruce [hammer] competing . The country’s top sprinters including new national record holder  Zoe Hobbs and  the  latest  men’s sprint sensation Tiann Whelpton who clocked windy 10.09 and 10.18 legal in Hastings will be in action. Joining the sprinters will be Olympian Hamish Kerr in the high jump and Para Olympic gold medallists Holly Robinson [Javelin] and Anna Grimaldi [Long Jump]
