WELLINGTON Athletes Perform over country and on track over weekend. 

Saturday saw the 98th Vosseler Shield Mountain Races, Mt Victoria hosted by the WHAC club.
Seamus Kane won the 10km in 38:01, from Nathan Tse 38:11 and Jack Shaw 38:34. Hiro Tanimoto was the first master in 40:22.

In the women’s race WHAC’s well consistent performer Sarah Drought won the 5km in 21:37 beating Esther George 22:31 on return from her Christchurch Half  Marathon success ahead of  Mel Brandon 22:41.

3km; Joshua Jordan 10:53 and Poppy Healy 12:36. 1.1km Jacob Williams 4:19 and Mia Thomson 4:59.

In the USA, Wellington’s Maia Ramsden of the WHAC club had an impressive few day at the NCAA  Division 1 Championships, East Preliminary Round, in Bloomington Indiana, running a Personal best 1500m 4:16.70 to finish 4th in her heat  to qualify on Thursday 26 May then came back to run again on Saturday her 1500m Quarter-final, running a superb 4:13.54 PB to finish 5th and 9th overall. The 2019 and 2020 national U20 1500m champion from Wellington is now ranked 15th on the New Zealand all-time list.

Wairarapa Track and Field Winter Series, got underway at Colin Pugh Sportsbowl on Saturday. Best performances were Ben Lambert 100m 11.40 +0.4. Angus Lyver 200m 22.39 +0.3, LJ 6.70m +1.0. Liam Lamb 800m 1:57.34. Ben Brunner (15) 3000m 9:10.22 PB. Kaleb Sola 800g JT 44.72m, 5kg HT 50.90m. Jack Bryan LJ 6.26m +0.4.

Kimberley Walsh 400m 57.54. Amelia Abernethy 800m 2:23.11. Vanessa Story (47) 800m 2:38.51. Courtney Fitzgibbon (15) 3000m 10:30.44 PB. Lola Campbell (15) 3000m 10:57.31 PB.
