Athletics Wellington is absolutely delighted to announce that several of our talented athletes have been selected to represent New Zealand at major Championships.
Firstly, we have Naomi Waite from Wellington Harrier, who will be competing in the high jump at the 2024 World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru (27th – 31st August). Naomi’s impressive high jump PB of 1.80 meters during the national U20 crown in February earned her this well-deserved opportunity.
Additionally, we have a strong presence in the upcoming Oceania Championships in Suva, Fiji (1st – 8th June). Our senior athletes include James Preston in the 800m, Hugo Jones in the high jump, Alison Andrews-Paul in the 800m and 1500m (reserve), Phoebe Edwards in the long jump, and Naomi Waite once again in the high jump.
For the under 18 category, we have Lucas Lambert competing in the 100m and 200m, Jag Gunregjav-Willers in the steeplechase, Asher Robertson in the 200m, 400m, 400mH, high jump, and long jump, Keagan Sharkey in the javelin, Nelsson Tiumala in the high jump, Heath Abbot in the hammer throw, and Analin Rudd in the long jump and triple jump.
We couldn’t be prouder of our athletes and their achievements. It’s a testament to their hard work, dedication, and talent. We wish them all the best in their respective competitions and know they will make Athletics Wellington & New Zealand Athletics proud!
