Wallington Secondary School Athletes Enjoy Successes
Over the weekend in Timaru, South Canterbury athletes from the Wellington Centre enjoyed plenty of successes as they competed in the 51st NZ Secondary School Track & Field Championship and the associated NZSS School Road Race Championships on Sunday.
While medals were plentiful, the generally ideal conditions meant a large number of athletes achieved personal best performances and made finals over the 2.5 day Track & Field Championships. There were also some outstanding National School records broken.
Wellington athletes took a clean sweep in the Senior Boys High Jump and a number of athletes were multiple medallist. Wellington Para athletes also took their share of medals. Over 1000 athletes competed throughout the weekend from almost 200 schools of which 18 Wellington regional schools achieved medals.
