Winter Series Track & Field underway in Masterton

Central Region Winter Series begins in Masterton.

Will Anthony continued his strong form recording a personal best in the 5000m, and some strong early season throwing from Zion Trigger-Faitele with a personal best 15.55m 6kg shot  put featured in the first of the central region winter series meets that was staged at Masterton on Sunday.

Anthony of Olympic Harriers recorded 14:21.62, while Max Karamanolis recorded a 9.01.59 for 3000m. Excellent runs over 3000m were recorded by young female distance athletes Mackenzie Morgan of Wanganui with 10.42.34 and Courtney Fitzgibbon of Palmerston North in 10.50.75m.  In the men’s sprints Cody Wilson ran 11.64  to take the 100 metres ahead of Saravee Sos. Sos later ran 52.93 in the 400m. Young Wellington Harrier athlete Analin Rudd recorded wins with 13.67sec 100 metres and a long jump in 4.43metres.

Solid performances in the field were also recorded by Max Abbot finishing 2nd in the shot with a personal best 6kg shot 13.61m and a win in the hammer with 49.38metres. Fresh from his Wellington Sports Award disabled athlete of the year, Corran Hanning with a 12.15m shot and 35.41m hammer had strong performances. In the Women’s throws Mikayla Sola showed some solid form taking the 3kg events of Hammer with 39.09m  and  Shot with 11.25m. Brother Caleb had an excellent 46.85m  6kg hammer.
